Blake’s Cider Mill

Now that Labor Day is officially here, it’s finally socially acceptable for me to go to a cider mill. I’ve been to many in the Oakland County area but never Blake’s Cider Mill, which is world famous for their hard ciders and delicious donuts. It was a great experience and I’d definitely go back. There are three locations, but only one of them serves hard cider. Go to “Blake’s Orchard & Cider Mill & Winery” for the location that has it all–a restaurant, brewery, vineyard, cider/donuts, local jams/honey/etc and produce. They even have a lavender shop! And my friend Dan and I were lucky enough to go on the day Blake’s had their Labor Day Crafts Fair. Check it out below!

The three locations are listed at the bottom of the photo above. The second location has cider, donuts and produce. We accidentally went there instead of the brewery and vineyard at first. The last location has a farmers market and flowers.

Dan and I decided to get two flights, one of wine and one of cider. Out of the six drinks we tried, my personal favorites were the Grizzly Pear Cider and the Homestead Peach Honey Wine. The other drinks were still delicious and I’d get them again but today I was in the mood for something sweet. We also got some truffle fries, which were tasty and came with a very large portion. It’s enough for a whole table!

Next up, Dan and I checked out the craft fair. There were lots of local items, many of them geared towards the upcoming fall season. And we even got to see two alpacas from Swiss Farms Alpaca!

Although we didn’t check out the lavender shop on this visit, Dan and I did step into the main general store, where there were many homemade products for sale. Anything from a candy shop to cider, donuts, produce and canned veggies were available. They have a large assortment of items, just in time for the winter season!
